Outro (New York, NY)

Good Morning!  Have you ever been late to work?  Well, that was a rhetorical question.  Of course you’ve been late to work!  Who hasn’t?  The only people who aren’t late to work, are over-achievers.  And we all know, no one wants to be the “over-achiever”.  It’s too much pressure to do well from society.  I always tell people, if you’re going to be late for work, then you “mindaswell” get something on your way.  If you have any sense, make sure you pick up Donuts for the team to make up for your unpreparedness.  Outro is exactly that.  It’s a place where you can get in and get out.

Outro, which is located off of Broadway in NY, is a restaurant that offers an all-day brunch menu and uses fresh seasonal items.  The restaurant is small and quaint and has a rustic feel to it.  If it’s nice outside, make sure you go out to the back where they have a full garden and the occasional caterpillar that’ll walk on your table.

During my visit I was able to indulge in two dishes.  The Smoked Salmon and Avocado Chicken Waffle were my two options.  The Smoked Salmon consisted of a hard boiled egg, sliced avocado, house salad, turmeric pasta, croissant, and daily soup.  If you’re ever looking for a well balanced breakfast or brunch than this dish is the one for you.  The Smoked Salmon was fresh, boiled egg was perfect, and the sliced avocado helped provide more protein throughout this meal.  The turmeric pasta wasn’t my favorite, because it tasted similar to a store brand pasta salad, but it wasn’t as bad as you’d think.  The soup I had was a minestrone soup.  There wasn’t much flavor in this soup, but it still helped with the creativity of the dish.  You got a little bit of everything included a buttered croissant.  The Croissant was flaky on the outside and soft on the inside.

The next dish was the Avocado Chicken Waffle.  It consisted of grilled chicken and avocado smash.  This dish was simple but so effective.  The waffle was a good size but the Grilled Chicken mixed with the Avocado Smash was the highlight.  It was savory, smokey, and almost had an earthy flavor.  It was very hearty and simple.  This dish was a straight to the point dish.  No bells or whistles, just get what’s described food.

Overall, this restaurant is a go if you’re in the area.  I wouldn’t make it a point to go here because it’s nothing too spectacular.  If you’re looking for something a bit more, I’d pass on this place.  If you’re running late for work, then this is the place for you.
