Finally! After a year and some change I finally had the opportunity to try out this restaurant. I have absolutely no clue what made me go head over heels for this restaurant, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it. This restaurant specializes in over the top pancakes, over the top shakes, and over the top breakfast. I once seen one of the items scrolling through my Facebook page, and decided that I had to make it a priority to get to this place. It’s located in Edgewater, New Jersey which is across the bridge from Manhattan so if you’re in New York please consider dining at this place for breakfast.
The interior of this restaurant is pretty cool. It is set up like a fancy diner, and the decor has unique digs with newspaper wall art & an upside-down juice bar. I was able to get to this restaurant around 8 a.m. so it wasn’t too packed but when I left the restaurant around 9 it seemed to fill up pretty quickly. The restaurant does offer free valet, which is a plus because parking around the area sucks, just don’t forget to tip the person that parks your car where you could’ve parked it.
Two items were ordered where I was able to get a taste of both worlds. A huge stack of pancakes and a flavorful Benedict entree. The first dish was the Oreo Cookie Pancakes. It consisted of Buttermilk Pancakes baked with Oreo cookies inside & topped with Oreo cookies, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. Did your mouth drool yet? If not, please stop smoking weed. Your mouth is drying up uncontrollably and your brain can’t adapt to the fact that your mouth should be watering. If you’re offended by this, you shouldn’t be, drugs kill, except for weed. I’m totally off topic, but you get my euphemism. The pancakes were soft, fluffy, and flavorful. No syrup was needed, but it did add an extra sweetness to combat with the chocolate flavor of the Oreo cookies. The only thing I would’ve done differently with this dish is incorporated the Oreo’s into the pancake batter instead of having it topped on the pancakes. If you have a sweet tooth than order more ice cream because the pancake to ice cream ratio will have you upset. These were some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had, so when you order the pancakes of your choice, let me know what you like about them. Just to give you an idea of what they offer, they have Apple Pie, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Bacon, and Greek Yogurt, and that’s just to name a few.
The second dish that was ordered was the Corn Beef Hash Benedict. This was my final decision after contemplating on the Salmon Benedict or the Mini Waffle Benedict. The Corn Beef Hash had a bit of a kick to it and wasn’t too greasy. I mentioned that the Corn Beef Hash wasn’t greasy because I’ve had a dish that was extremely greasy as you can imagine it was disgusting. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly but needed a little more seasoning on it to bring the dish together. The muffins weren’t soggy so there was a little crispiness to the bread as I cut through the Benedict. I also ordered a side of grits with this dish over fruit. The grits were not cooked properly and that was a disappointment because I love grits. They were watery and grainy. I wanted to go back to the kitchen to inform the cooks to add more butter in the grits because it’ll help make it creamier and to simmer it not boil it. But hey, what do I know? I’m just a man that loves food.
Overall, this restaurant is a go to. If you have any children, they will love the experience. This restaurant also offers gigantic shakes that would appeal to families as well. When you decide to go to this restaurant let me know what you tried. Enjoy!
